I love not camping

Rainy day...must play!
Made this for my smash journal. I love not camping...
The female and word images came from a small tissue box. The background photo is from a 1950's hotel room. Then I added some fun embellishments :o)

Blue

I call this Blue

I used a 3 x 3 canvas, glass circle, glass ovals, scrapbook paper, and acrylic gouache. First I painted the canvas with a few coats of gouache. I used dimensional adhesive on the glass to adhere the paper to the glass. Than I just adhered the glass shapes to the canvas.

Dream a little Dream

When trying a new technique and it doesn't work out...make something else!

On a 5 x 5 canvas I used gesso, acrylics, gel medium, and paper from a vintage french dictionary. I stamped the image onto Lutradur and used the gel medium to adhere the image to the canvas. A little more paint here and there. Than for the finishing touch I added some gears, film strip, watch face with a game spinner, and a cute little light bulb...etc.

freeArt ATX

On the wings of the wind
I made this 6x6 collage for freeArt ATX project. The art will be handed out on National Art Advocacy Day. Below I show a few steps on how I put this simple collage together.

Step 1- You can use any paper you have around the house. I used collage paper from Basic Grey. Cut the paper to the size you want. For this project it was 6x6. Glue the paper down to cardboard that has been cut to 6x6. You can use old cardboard that you might have in your recycle bin.

Step 2 - Add white (picket fence) distress stain for a washed out look. You can use white watercolor paint or gesso. I used watercolor pencils for the circles.

Step 3 - I use scrap paper for the wings, torso and heart. To make the torso and wings thick I traced them and then glued the pieces together. I used a stamp to make the heart then I stamped the word art onto the heart.

Step 4 - I glued it all together and added some white brads and some words: "on the wings of the wind". I was thinking of my nephew blowing bubbles when I put this together :o)
